Bamboo Yoga Bricks

Are you a beginner “yogi” like me? I really think I should have discovered Yoga long time ago. I knew it was there but honestly I somehow thought that was not for me. Things change for luck and here I was, me as a yogi beginner trying to stretch my arms and legs to places I never knew they existed. Yoga is a great exercise. I only needed a tv or screen with my favourite yoga instructor and a mat. Or at least that was what I thought. Soon I realize why I saw that yoga brick shown by my instructor in her classes. Now I know. It´s not a secret I love bamboo, therefore the first thing I did was looking for a piece of brick made out of bamboo, and ta ta! here are they.

Why use a bamboo yoga brick

Yoga blocks or bricks are used as an extension of our arms. They do support our backs, head and hips to help the body settle into poses like I did first with the Adho Mukha Svanasana pose.

A nice and touchable piece of bamboo with a brick shape will bring you the floor closer to you which doesn´t seem to be a great deal, but it is, believe me. It really helps you in establishing correct alignment.

When you are a beginner or you experience any injury or just physical limitations, a brick or block will make yoga accessible for you.

And once you start, you can place your bamboo yoga brick at the low, medium and high positions in order to get more or less support.

When I picked mine, I knew I wanted made out of bamboo. Bamboo is the most environmentally friendly source I know, biodegradable, compostable, recyclable and it grows really fast without the help of fertilizers or chemicals. Also I know that bamboo is much more durable than other similar recyclable bricks, therefore I will have mine as long as I want to.

While Yoga is a great practice for your body, it is also great for your mind. Yoga is also being aware of the relevance of the nature and the world around us, that is why I prefer using a brick made out of bamboo too. Ah, by the way, bamboo yoga bricks are quite cheap as well!!
